I thought I'd jot down some of my thoughts about some of the movies I have seen. To give some consistency I am employing the 1 to 5 star rating system ie:
***** = Brilliant and a must-see
**** = Very good film-well worth a visit to the cinema
*** = Fair. Wait until it comes on DVD.
** = Poor. Only if your desperate
* = Give it the flick!
I have included an appropriate URL (where possible) with each movie so you can follow up for more information or watch the trailer. Remember these are my thoughts and views only and what I see or don't see in a film you may not :-)

Those mad scientists are at it again and have genetically engineered a cure for cancer using a virus as a delivery vehicle. Predictably this goes all wrong resulting in most of the world's population dying, a proportion turning into vicious living dead, and apparently at first only Robert Neville (Will Smith) and his pet dog to survive the result.
This is a great visual movie with spectacular scenes of deserted cityscape on grand scale and a good illustration of nature’s upper-hand and the taking back of cities. The scientist bashing is a bit tiresome. I found this a pretty slow movie and its opening scenes are only propped up by the visuals. The storyline is pretty basic and action sequences are good and scattered throughout to provide some interest.
The visuals are certainly worthwhile seeing and an impressive soundtrack accompanies the movie but don’t expect to leave the cinema with any feeling of movie satisfaction.

The fight goes on when a spacecraft from another world crashes into the woods of a small American town and a swarm of aliens escape, that ‘good’ predator arrives on earth to exterminate them along with a few humans who get in the way. A tangle of sub-plots run through this predictable movie that consists of an abundance of action scenes with some vicious fights between the two foes. I guess you really have to be a fan of the previous movies but these nasty beasties looked so similar to me it was hard to see who was who in the fights and differentiation was only possible with Predator’s wonderful ability to become invisible…or sort of all shimmery and transparent...so we could still see him I guess. One for Alien/Predator fans.
